This was great. The visuals from Villenueve were beautiful as expect. Some in places where you aren’t expecting it. I have many more thoughts but still processing. lol those body shields don’t do shit. One main gripe i have is the emporer sounding like a bad impression of Chris Walken. Because he’s played by Chris Walken. That part was awful

Chris Walken was too white savior.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

You didn’t think his well known cadence was too distracting?

He said like three things the whole movie. Get over it!

That gladiator arena scene on that Harkkonen planet with the black sun was great

I was kind of worried about it, but his role was so small it didn't bother me too much.

It was alright. Better than part 1, more engaging. Zendaya is such a good actress. Timothy is still half sleep.
So part 3 will come next right

They haven’t confirmed anything but Villenueve said he’s working on the adaptation

I liked it a lot more the second time. All of the pacing issues I felt Thursday night were gone tonight. The dialogue I found a little too loose and cheesy was just fine tonight as well. It's great and I can't wait for part 3. I'm guessing late 2026 / early 2027 at the earliest.

Bummer: they filmed scenes with Thufir Hawat and Hasimir Fenring but cut them. I would've loved seeing Hasimir.

You would be doing yourself a big injustice by not seeing this on a proper screen, dime

Forgot a guy I know is in this . He got a great Christopher Walken story out of it if not much screen time. Hope he gets a bit at least.

So for those who know about the books; what happens in Messiah? Paul ‘s sister has a more prominent role?

Part 2 really was, I hate to use the word, epic. Visually spectacular and the sound design is immense; you really do need to see it in imax. Well done all around though my one hot take is that I still feel Zendaya is generally overrated. As far as actresses go the main attraction here (per usual) is Rebecca Ferguson, hands down.

Yeah kind of hard to talk about messiah in general but especially without giving away the main plot. It’s a little more tedious and depressing in my opinion, but i like it. Great sci fi book, a movie will be interesting. I think Villenueve can do it but it will be a challenge to make in to something the general audience will enjoy
