Maybe i just set my expectations about as low as they can go after the live take but i actually didn't hate this.

There’s some beatlesque instrumentation.

It’s not as bad as I initially thought - there’s more to it than I thought, but I am still not sold.

I'm pretty sure that "Siamese" comes from old circus freak shows

Re: Eddie Vedder - Earthling
I listen to mostly folk and singer-songwriter music these days, and gravitate towards artists with extremely smart, memorable, quotable lyrics...so maybe my standards are a bit skewed. But it's kinda shocking how blah the lyrics are in his recent solo stuff. No specificity, no poetry, questionable grammar. Just a mish-mash of words and vague feelings.

There's something about the verse melody and lyrics that makes it sound like he's making it up on the spot

I hear a little bit of "Real Love" in there.Strat wrote:There’s some beatlesque instrumentation.
Other than that though, not really digging this one. Too breathy, over emotive, mostly blah-ish music, combined with weak lyrics ("not got half") and yeah, this will be a skipper for me.
Long Way, on the other hand, has grown quite a bit on me. Helped seeing him perform it live, where it really shined.

There are brief moments of potential here, but that's about it.

I don’t know what I expected, but I didn’t expect 5 minutes of it.

Better as a single, than it was live.
