His joke I reiterate was you look like you’re going to play G.I. Jane in a G.I. Jane sequel. What are G.I. Jane’s qualities? Is comparing somebody to G.I. Jane an insult in and of itself? This is my thought process. I do not know the history of black women and hair. I did not consider this when reading into Chris rocks joke because it is not a deep or profound joke. It is actually very simple and because I trust that Chris Rock is not a racist asshole trying to put down black women at the Oscars I assumeIt is irrelevant. But I will look into the black women and hair thing because now I am curious.
Dude... I've been trying to somewhat agree with you but at some point you'll have to concede it was about her hair.
Oh it was definitely about her hair. But it sounded like an empowering statement to me. G.I. Jane pulled off that short hair like a bad ass mofo.

Like I said call her Shrek or somebody even uglier who’s bald. It was just a hey how are you doing Jada Pinkett Smith looking good, love ya

I heard an interesting take that Will Smith was somewhat stuck in character. I haven’t seen that movie, but apparently the character he plays has similar violent outbursts while defending his loved ones honour.
