being in the fan club should all but guarantee you a ticket to a show. it's the reason we are all in the fan club to begin with. if i didn't get tickets from them all the time there would be 0 reason to be in it.

i didn't get fan club tickets this tour, but i still think i'm going to end up with great seats, possibly better than fan club seats. which is also bullshit. the fan club should get the best seats. period.

Oh I’m definitely done with the fan club for good when my renewal comes up. I’m bullshit I kept that membership active for 6 years just to decide I’m done with all of it the week they finally have a Boston show on sale again.

Getting tickets for massive live shows is becoming increasingly expensive and insane

what is the point of paying annual dues for "exclusivity" in tickets to shows if you shut me out? i know i'm not the only person this happened to. and yes, i could've signed up for the verified fan sale...but bitch i'm in the fanclub. I have verified i'm a fan.

yes, i know that's not the point.
Dad - I am virtually certain of this: GA is pure luck lottery. Assigned seats are lottery and then seniority for actual seat location.

In other words you have the same chance as anyone to be selected. GA is equal opportunity. Best seats go to long timers.

right, but having the privilege to buy tickets through the fan club should qualify me for some tickets.

I get it. What if all 700,000 ten club members requested the same show though?

I like the idea I saw where you would be prioritized when purchasing with a credit card billing zip code within X miles of the venue

Lol. There would be threads at the Pit "looking for someone in NYC to let me use their address to get a credit card so I can buy tickets there"

The seats you see for $800 or whatever, are "premium" seats, the same thing as Ticketmaster's "platinum" seats. Those are 'dynamic' pricing seats which go by market demand, meaning they are just put up at a ridiculous premium. These used to be just the few best seats in the house, and now it has expanded to many lower level sections, its absolutely insane.

You'll also notice if you watch long enough they'll randomly put up a row of those, and ones will disappear and come back, because Im pretty sure they don't show them all at once, wanting to make things seem scarcer than they are and make people jump on them.

But this is not PJ specific, this is Ticketmaster, they do this for everything now. Its crazy.
mjd gets it: the massively inflated prices aren't the 'regular' prices.

They're Ticketmaster's system hoping you're desperate enough to buy a middling seat for a massively inflated 'dynamic' price because the show is in high demand.

And yes, Pearl Jam could choose not to participate in that kind of pricing structure (like The Cure) but, for whatever reason, they haven't.

Not all of us are! It would have been nice to have better seats for some of the shows I've been to, but overall I have no regrets about skipping it. I find it a tad weird.

Yes, but just a tad. And a couple of times I've gone to shows with a friend in his Ten club seats, so I'm not totally separate from the whole thing.

♫ I've got the overspending for bad seats blues ♫

This dynamic TM system is bonkers. I mean section 208 $175 a pop.
I wouldn't be surprised if a non-10c member was able to score better tickets than me, at a more reasonable price.

Probably the most important part of this fiasco that shouldn’t get lost in the jamily apologist narrative.
Or course.

i am totally aghast

i know we make jokes about wealthy eddie vedder meme and givenchy in store

but actually seeing PJ participate in a ticketmaster event today where almost every seat marked as available was over $490 each is just absolutely stirring

this band has completely lost their way

a core element of why they appealed to me was the counter-culture ethos

we are so far removed from that world now

it’s one thing to use ticketmaster bc they are ‘efficient’ (stone quote), it’s another thing to enable widespread price gouging

i absolutely laugh out loud at the thought of people paying $900 per ticket to stand side by side with people who paid $175 (already at the limit of reasonable for a band like this)

this has fundamentally impacted my ability to take seriously anything this band puts out

we knew Ed was a fraud and a hollywood starfucker

but now there is just absolutely nothing that distinguishes them from mainstream capitalist trash

if you are willing to gouge thousands of your own fans for $900 a pop, they are now just consumers to you and not people

i don’t listen to post-Vitalogy for their musicianship. they are average musicians. it was the morals, culture, and spirit that kept me in

they are completely and utterly morally bankrupt with this

Ed and his $530K a year charity guy can go fuck themselves at Jeffrey Epstein’s house

garbage humans

fuck yourselves

a lot of this is visceral based on real world interaction with the ticketmaster machine today

we’ll see how long it lasts after a few nights sleeps

as of right now, i can’t just laugh off aspects of their mediocrity and give them the benefit of the doubt

as of right now, i think i see things more clearly for what they actually are now

unintentional or no its reckless

Jeff hiding in his Montana lair in the pandemic making angry tracks about the baddies

now charging people $900 a head to come see your show

that’s not the baddies

that’s you

you are the baddie, buddy

you are the baddie
