I agree that Folklore is better, but this album is close. it’s definitely looser and has a little of pre-1989 Taylor swift in it.

evermore is a beauty.

I still have to dig deeper but this is very good.

I’m starting to think that this may be better.

the run from dorothea through evermore is crazy.

coney island > exile (I know that’s sacrilege, but the first half of exile is kind of a slog)

so much wrong with all of that

but with that said, this keeps getting better with each listen

It took me awhile, but I really do like No Body, No Crime (which is the best song the Decemberists never made). (and yes, I know that that’s not a duet).

I would say evermore and coney island are the best tracks from this album.

I love how chill and calm it is, and at the same time i doesnt seem to have the highs of folklore.

Some brief takes on this.

On the first few listens through, Evermore would be great if Folklore didn't exist, and hadn't already defined the year in music for many, and seeped into our consciousness. It feels like more of the same, with the effect lessened cos we've already heard 18 or so songs that sound exactly like this. From Fearless onwards, each TS record has been different, so unless this really is a full trilogy of material - this feels like the Amnesiac to Folklore's Kid A. It's early days though.
