Binaural is the one Pearl Jam album that can be elevated massively for me by A) adding in some B-sides and B) re-tracking. As is, it doesn't often grab me unless my mood is right.

I almost always find myself considering the album assuming your A) & B) have occurred. When Binaural is up for debate, my mind defaults to thinking of my own tracklist which includes the b-sides. I tend to evaluate Binaural assuming Sad, Education, Fatal, In The Moonlight are actually on it, even though I know they aren't. I usually give the album higher marks than i should because of this.

I had to really stop and think here. This feels right now. For example, today - would I rather hear Pilate or Jeremy? I would answer Pilate, but that's only because it's still fresh to me, even if its 15 years old. Jeremy likely can never be fresh again, i've given it hundreds, maybe thousands of plays over 20+ years. However, Jeremy is a vastly superior song, in my opinion. If we're "ranking songs' Jeremy stands only behind Off He Goes, even if there are quite a few others I'd rather hear today.
