Of course. His Japanese league numbers suggest he probably could have done that, but it's probably a stretch to think that he would have. But he hit .385 (the third highest total ever) in Japan as a 20-year-old. I'm also assuming he would have hit .250-.280 in the few seasons leading up to his .350 in his age 27 season, which is kind of completely crazy.

Also, I can't find a good study, but every article I've found on the NPB refers to it as the equivalent to AAAA.

But his Japanese career did easily and immediately translate to the MLB. My suggestion is that it could have translated earlier.

Consider: If Ichiro hit .250 in the majors over his age 20-26 seasons, he would have 3850 hits right now. If he hit .280, he would be at 4000. It seems crazy to me to think he wouldn't be capable of meeting those ridiculously low baselines, considering he came into the league and hit .350 as a rookie and has a .320 career average.

the latest on Braun? he apparently called up Kemp, Tulo, Votto, and a few other "allstar/veteran" type players between Nov 2011/Feb 2012 to talk about his failed test before he got off... telling them hes being framed, the "collector" is an anti-semite / CUBS FAN hahahahahahaha youd think us Brewer fans were the ones giving him legal advice

After Rickey Henderson retired I didn't really have one single player I followed, except for Ichiro. Helped that I was living in Seattle during his prime. Love watching that guy play.
