I ran AND hiked every day in Montana, I estimate I did about 120 miles with about 10,000 feet in vertical for the week. Most of that vertical was in Glacier, but in Missoula, I ran to the M and did the series of switchbacks 4 times each run. The crazy thing is that I ate and drank so much at night, that I actually gained weight. Also, my wife was with me for about 80 of those miles. She's currently in the best shape she's been in for about 10 years and is also contemplating a rim-to-rim excursion at the Grand Canyon this fall.
I've run both days since getting back and woke up early this morning for a quick 10-miler.

I gave up a chance to see Reggie Watts at the Wilma Theatre in favor of an extra day in Glacier. Did I make the right choice?

The canyons of congealed blood and pus on my back are as deep as my commitment to be loathed by GD regulars like yourself.

First, should we just rename this the running thread?
Second, four and a half painful miles yesterday; first in about two weeks which was full of icing and (not as many as I should have) wall-sits. The pain is pretty much all the time now and I am a very pissed of motherfucker. I will be going to see someone, hopefully this week, to get a more clear-cut plan as to how to move forward. My long-range focus is nailing the Newport half to finish the UHC triple crown but I'd like to add a local half a month before as well as run the Mesa Trail after landing in CO in early October.
Since I started running at the beginning of the year it has been a bright spot during a fairly dark time, I'd like to have it back now.

Done. Let me know if you guys want the change reversed.

Glad to hear and good luck! I've enjoyed participating in the races this year, keeps ya honest. Here's a video from the start of my last:

I targeted Sunday as the start date for my Grand Canyon training. Was gonna take it easy, but some fast dude was there and I just couldn't help myself. It was nice to be back at the gym. Push-ups, crunches and planks afterward. I'm gonna do every other day for the next couple of weeks before stepping it up.

That's fine by me.

7.5 miles with 2,400 feet in elevation change in 65 minutes
Made it out to my favorite trail this morning. It was already almost 90 when I started, but there was a breeze to offer relief. Felt solid the whole way, but never really pushed it. Feel like I'm gonna be in decent shape coming out of summer and a 4:30 at the Canyon seems more than realistic. Saw 4 (!!!!) rattlers, a desert tortoise, a coyote and a glorious sunrise this morning. I fucking love running.

I've been going to the gym every other day for a week now. I was thinking about joining the run club there, but decided there would be very little chance of me going a week without punching the "instructor", who wears compression shorts, socks and arm sleeves for a 5-mile treadmill run.

I ran/jogged/walked a 15 minute mile today, something I have never done. It was only 2 miles, but our goal for the end of the month is to doing a 5k in 45 minutes or less, so I'd say I'm on my way.
I like my new NB shoes but I'm getting the dreaded new-shoe blister on my right foot. Ugh.

4 X 6:15 minute miles with 2 minutes rest inbetween
Speedwork. Kinda felt like shit.

10 miles in 68 minutes
They closed the upper level of my gym for some quick renovations, so I had to run at the Tempe gym. Ran a couple of treadmills down from Donovan McNabb. He's fat.
