are you kidding me
yah i lol'd at that. ryan's 3 albums will be 3 piles of poop.
I didn't say I think the albums will be great but it releasing this piece 6 weeks before an album release seems tactical.

Let’s ignore the absurdly conspiratorial conjecture for a moment and just pause to ask: why in the fuck would it matter if it was?

Honestly - I'd say good on the victims if they did sit on this till it would have the biggest effect on him and his career

Because it would sting for him all the more? I don't really find it that absurd.

I find it more absurd that he thought people wanted three full Ryan Adams albums in one year

I was interested. The majority of his output has been good to great.

I was definitely interested. But after this whole debacle, I don’t think I’ll be listening to any RA for the foreseeable future.

If someone asked me if I wanted to hear Let It Ride I don't think I would ever say no. Even if I was in the same room with Mandy Moore.

Man I've been spinning Cold Roses for 2 days now. I heard some RA playlist in a cafe this morning and I wasn't aware of any of this till now.
Fuck I'm deflated. But what a major douche and cunt he has been.
I have had trouble with various bands/artists before with their reputation and their catalogue. I still don't know exactly where I fall on this. I still listen to Led Zeppelin, have spun the recent Brand New. It's all very confusing. The only thing I know for sure is that those girls should not have to deal with that kind of assholery. And for that there should be some kind of consequence.

I am not surprised. Humans are very flawed. It is very clear from his music that he is a troubled person. That doesn’t excuse his behavior and I feel sorry for everyone he has caused pain. I never idolized him as a person. He is not a role model and his public behavior over the years has made that quite clear. This doesn’t change whether I listen to his music or not. Many works of art are products of intense human pain and suffering. I think you need to disconnect the product from the producer. If you can’t get beyond disconnecting the two and the product no longer brings you joy then that’s a different story.

Im having trouble with him having flirtatious texts with a 14 year old. In no way is Ryan Adams a pedophile but that does cross a line.

We can merge this thread with the Bill Cosby thread.

The underage girl thing repulses me, but I also think that continuing to support a known abuser (especially one of Adams' severity) is problematic at best.

Side note: I had no idea that Phoebe Bridgers' "Motion Sickness" was about Ryan. Unfortunate inspiration, but it's a great song.
