I always thought Rey was overrated until I saw this match.

Rey was incredible in WCW.

You mentioned you were not the biggest WCW guy growing up. The Cruiserweight division was great then. I was much more of a WWF guy as well but watched a lot of WCW. Rey had some amazing matches with Eddie, Jericho, Dean Malenko, Último Dragón and Juventud Guerrera. Rey was a phenomenal worker/performer until he had so many injuries. There is a segment on the Monday Night Wars just about cruiserweights.

Yeah, that was a good one. The cruiser weight matches are great, but the crowd is almost always dead and the announcers aren't even paying attention. I can see why I never liked WCW when I watch some of this stuff. Their PPV's are awful, they build towards the next nights' Nitro, it's an absurd business model.

Agreed. It was not produced well whatsoever. They did not give a shit past like 94 about building stars. Crowds were just waiting for Hogan, Flair and Sting (I loved Sting though) and I was never a big Tony Schiavone fan. Heenan carried those broadcasts during the wars.

I watched a Halloween Havoc, 96 I think, where after the main event Piper debuted and cut a promo on Hogan, and the whole thing was basically set up to promote the next nights Nitro. I really have to try to get into the early 90s WCW stuff, that looks like it would be much more to my liking. It reminds me of 02-06 WWE, which is my favorite time period, when things were mostly about having great matches.

Yes. You would love WCW 91-93 I bet. Dangerous Alliance all damn day!

Also about time they put the US title on Rusev. Him and Lana are actually getting some heat which is fun. Keep it on him for a few months. They can protect his "streak" by having him drop it in a triple threat where he doesn't get pinned.

I think Rusev has a good character, and Lana is fantastic, but I can't get into this guy as a performer. Squash matches do nothing for me, and guys with a squashing everyone gimmick don't interest me.

He does need to prove he can go for like a 15 min match or so.

I was reading someone(I think it was JR) talking about Rusev, and he brought up a good point. Why are we supposed to hate Rusev. Because he is Russian? Is that the only reason? He dosent cheat, he dosent avoid opponents, and he destroys everyone. They need him to start acting more slimy.

I do agree it's not super heely....like his antics. But it's getting over. LOTS of boos. I think a lot of it is Lana tbh. I think Sheamus should turn heel and align himself with Lana. Some sort of anti American stable. Seems to always work.

Just rewatched Cena vs Umaga at Royal Rumble 2007. Last Man Standing match for the WWE title. Forgot how great it was. They just beat the hell out of each other. Cena actually sells and works his ass off.

Umaga was awesome. Moved incredibly for his size. Very underrated big man.

It felt like it was built on the fly. I love Survivor Series but I'm not expecting much Sunday.

The card is awful. I'm hoping either the 10 man or Ambrose-Wyatt end up being really good to make up for it.
