I’m listening to all of these again right now. Super interesting stuff. The tracks that actually made the album are significantly better here, even without all the lyrics.

2x4 - solid uptempo jam. Nothing groundbreaking going on, but the base of a solid song.

Only Cloud in the Sky - relaxing vibe and tempo. The guitar noodling kinda reminds me of John Frusciante.

Life Wasted - It’s so much better with the closing solo intact and complete. The guitars sounds more lush too. Better than the final product by far, even with incomplete lyrics.

Severed Hand - This is so much funkier than the finished album version. Jeff is just destroying everything in his path. Plus this sounds way less like Porch. Another massive improvement over the final product.

The Bigger The Wave - Again Jeff really stands out on this. I already like the album version, but again I like the less processed and looser sound so fucking much better. Matt sounds great on this too, and Mike’s solo is fire.

Open Door - this seems pretty raw, and kind of like they just wanted to get several ideas down together, but might not have fleshed out the arrangement completely. It does have some beautiful moments. I would love to hear if this evolved further.

Rearranged Furniture - I like the guitar tones - it feels similar to Yield. The whole band actually sounds great. Another song that has great potential.

Rearranged Priorities - this is a mid-quick tempo rocker. Like the previous song, it has no vocal. Nothing really stands out for me with this one.

10 Billion Years - I love this song. Best song with Stone on Vox BY FAR.

Luck 13 - fun noodling on the guitar, but nothing all that interesting.

Breeze in D - Beautiful instrumental. I can’t imag Ed adding much to improve this. Probably best left as is.

There’s a lot of good material here, and the songs that made the final cut all suffer from the shitty listening experience that is Avocado.
