But that gun total includes suicides. That would be a big chunk of it. And yes, if there were no guns the number would be lower, but more than likely those people would have found another way to kill themselves.

perhaps for a diferent discussion, but I wonder if those who killed themselves with a shot gun blast to the dome (ive had a couple friends do this) would regret. A shotgun takes little thought to pull the trigger and end your life. Setting up a noose (which ive also had a couple friends do) takes some preparation. Remove the guns, maybe suicides would drop significantly as well.

someone once told me that it's also less likely to survive a suicide attempt by shot gun than other ways, which i believe is a good point.

The only scenario I can think of is if a GGG (good guy with a gun) kills some innocent bystanders in an attempt to take down a mass shooter.

Didn't this happen in NYC a few years ago? My memory is foggy, but didn't a cop accidentally kill some people in line at the Empire State Building going after a criminal?
My standard response to things like this has become "lol fart." You can already play fill-in-the-blank to anticipate the reaction of all sides, and tomorrow the world keeps spinning.

How come this isn't a huge topic for a presidential candidates?
I know the agenda is controlled and no candidate, perhaps except for the extreme few, wants to touch it at all, but I'd hope it'd be a huge topic in this next campaign.

That's the unfortunate aspect of modern western politics. No one is prepared to make a stand for a cause that is needed for long term growth/advancement. Everything is based on a three year cycle and ultimately no growth.
