If Neil couldn't do it (jesus christ, don't die), Letterman is a great substitute and makes perfect sense given his history with the band.

Dave A should have jumped in and saved the day but he didnt and Its that type of attitude that got him kicked out of the band in the first place.

In fairness Neil's speech probably would end up sounding like his autobiography and he'd start talking about train sets and electric cars (but not about abandoned musicians dropped abruptly and thankless along the way).

i honestly think this will be a dream come true for Dave. It was just kind of another day for Neil. Dave's passion will come through.

Yeah. God knows I love Neil, but does anyone think he ever listens to Pearl Jam for pleasure? Dave's a legitimate fan.
