I think people are misunderstanding the direction this is going in, because they misunderstand the relationship.

The logic you’re using would have ended this collaboration way before Elon Musk interrupted and answered questions for Donald in the oval office.
Interesting. What am I missing? Is it that Musk is a major donor and probably knows how to flatter?

the pipeline would hardly be a blip in the grand scheme of things

the US alone produces approx 13.4 million barrels a day
sure 830K barrels from the pipeline seems a lot compared to that

but the world produces approx 81,804,000 barrels a day

i dont think .01% of more oil produced (never mind it is dirty oil and not crude so I am not even sure in the long run how much of that is going to be usable without being refined significantly) is going to move the needle on gas prices in the least
You may have a math mistake there
my bad (always forget to move the decimal point), 1% which does not change anything price wise
I'll have to concede this one because we are waaaay beyond my understanding level, but my suspicion is that a 1% global supply increase in refined petroleum is significant price-wise. I don't have evidence for that though so you could very well be correct.
The purpose of completing the pipeline is to annex Western Canada and free them of their Ottowan yoke. Deprived of oil revenue, the rest of Canada will see the light and begrudgingly accept their rightful southern overlords.

Quebec might get to stay their own thing, we don't need their headache.

Donald Trump encourages Musk like a cheerleader. He defers to him when somebody asks a question. He is entirely absent of jealousy for the attention that Musk gets.

Elon Musk is richer than Donald Trump and Elon Musk makes Donald Trump feel big.

Having a rich and powerful man who approves of him and gets things done speaks to a lifetime of daddy issues. Trump has the thing he really wants, which is to be a president who is treated like a king while making back room deals. Elon takes care of all the presidential stuff (delivering on promises) he never liked in the first place.

There will always be somebody else to blame for the things that go wrong. And I’m not sure Donald Trump would really know how to shut Elon Musk down at this point even if he wanted to. They would each stand to lose some of the kids in the divorce, and that audience is essential to their power.

Makes sense. Just think: if Trump and Musk had loving daddies, we wouldn’t be here right now. At least not with these two particular people. But as the events of the last ten or so years show, the whims of these two particular people can shape the fabric of reality on earth.

They’re looking at banning trans people coming to the US now. And no it’s not just athletes.

I've been assured that this is a minor issue that effects a miniscule number of people, so we shouldn't care about it.

It's so weird lol. They haven't offered any opinions on the subjects at hand. It's just personal attacks! I'm worried about these guys. How are they gonna survive the new board rules?
what opinion? just let everyone be who they are.

let them be free, as you so often tout.
Woah! That's incredibly profound. I can no longer stick to my "other people shouldn't be allowed to be who they are" position that I definitely took. I admit I was wrong. You've won!

This is good! Feel free to share your opinions on the news and debate topics at hand more often!
Please be respectful.

Musk is apparently attending the first official cabinet meeting, even though he isn't a cabinet member. I can't wait for him to give someone like Hegseth his "advice" and then being told to fuck off. I could see a whole brawl breaking out at these meetings, lol.

The good news is Trump has destroyed the conservative movement in Canada. Liberals are leading in the polls here for the first time in 4 years.

It's adorable that anyone thinks we can stop the debt from rising into infinity but it's always good to see someone say no to spending on principle if nothing else.
