For sure the Petty influences are strong on this one, but at least in this clip i think its in a more interesting way than it was on Long Way.Monkey_Driven wrote:I don't hear much Springsteen, but A LOT of Petty (in a good way).stip wrote:I hear Tom Petty more than Springsteen in that clip, but they're on the same continuum.Val wrote:More Springsteen adoration.Mike wrote:https://darkmatter.pearljam.com/audio/wreckage.mp3unLEASHed wrote:Wreckage is out on the visualizer

Yeah, if recent Ed vocal habits annoy you, I can hear them on this clip rather than Something Special. I like the music even though I can't really form an opinion on the song yet. It's a bit busier than I had anticipated.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Really hear Mike Mills in the background vocal...very nice!
Also, stip, does your job not realize they need to form fit your work schedule around Pearl Jam album release month?

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Seems to be exactly as I predicted it (not gloating just saying that it makes a lot of logistical sense). They waited until they could do about 1 clip per day - countdown - until the 19th.

Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
i get the feeling more and more that this album is much more a product of the producer than the band.. this just doesn't quite sound like pearl jam, but rather someone's idea of what pearl jam could be

At the end of the wreckage clip the melody master Ed arrives. The guitar work sounds good

Finally found my login info...
So in traditional PJ fashion they purposely do not release the best/accessible (? pop) song as a single.
Wreckage sounds great! And I use 'sounds' not in terms of production, as that's a whole other kettle of fish.
