i don't go to many movies but the last few times we came into the theater on the later side because we were enjoying ourselves at the bar next door and the theater was packed and we had to settle for seats up front and fuck that

Saw a thing on FB yesterday about a guy who spent over $2100 to buy a every ticket in the cinema to have the screen to himself on opening day.

I think it just depends on where you live and what time you go to movies. Theaters are never packed when I go (like, not even close).

Early afternoon showings are always a good time for empty screens.

yeah i guess in smaller towns this would be pointless
but city theaters or regional ones that draw big crowds from lots of surrounding communities might be wise to implement it

Pretty sure Strat would be into all that "communal experience" bullshit, though.

Yeah, I am really not looking forward to that part. I'm going to try and catch it at a 10:30 a.m. showing on a weekday in the second or third week just to avoid this. Someone clapped in Spectre yesterday and it pissed me off.
I'm looking at an 11:30 a.m. weekday show, too, to hopefully avoid the clapping, etc.
I am gonna try to find an off time too, but if the whole theater erupted in cheers during the opening crawl I would be fine with that. Shit, I'll probably be tearing up. Afterwards everyone better shut up

I'm probably going to see this on Christmas Day. It'll just be me and the Jews.

I'll probably go the day after it comes out (Friday the 18th) at like 10:00AM. Kids will still be in school before Christmas holiday, so I'm hoping for only geezers like me.
