something I've realised about modern PJ is that because their music is more direct and immediate now (by which I mean more opaque, not necessarily immediately good), I think I should be trusting first instincts more, stop overthinking it

They’ve definitely mellowed down through the years

he is way too down on some of the later records, but it's a pretty great book. Highly recommend

To be honest, I don't even know what a version of the band's Ten-era approach even sounds like 30 years later with the band now. Should be interesting to hear.
I like Hyden, but the few factual inaccuracies in the book left a bad taste in my mouth. Granted, the book was a collection of essays, but c'mon man...you can't fact-check or have your editor fact-check a few things? yikes.
What inaccuracies? I only read it once and don't recall

It just means a label has been created, not actually "shipped" unfortunately.

belongs here with that level of unabashed hyperbole!
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

These reviews are killing me.
Song that captures early Pearl Jam
Closing song that's as strong as Release

My imagination is going crazy at how good this album could be...or perhaps how let down I'm going to be

9 days to go !!
