2017 was probably the best year in video games in 20 years.

I just want different things from videogames than most people, I guess. I feel like all their potential is being squandered on repetitive, uninspired mediocrity.

So, you played Horizon, Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Wolfenstein II, Persona 5, etc. last year?

No. That's kind of the point. None of those games excite me enough to even want to try them.

What exactly are you looking for? Each game I mentioned took an established genre/series and expanded upon it in unique and surprising ways. Each was a joy to play.

That's not even mentioning some of the innovative/imaginative work being done on the indie scene.

Aren't you the guy who thinks it's edgy to play nothing but Call of Duty? Fuck outta here.

Yeah 2017 was amazing for video games. Games are pushing the boundaries more than ever.

I've been playing Divinity Original Sin lately with my brother. I like this game so much I think I might act finish it.

That game is crazy good. Picked up the sequel during a steam sale. So good.

lol, I like COD, yeah, but I don’t think I’m doing anything “edgy,” and they aren’t the only games I play. So...no?

PS4 has more/better (IMO) exclusive games. Otherwise, the experience is largely the same.

not much a difference but the xbox one x has a couple issues worth noting. Either way, you be you.

Xbox one x

- cons - price tag is obvious. the selection of games specific to the system will be pretty weak. You have to keep an eye out for the games that will be enhanced by the consoles hardware set up. It isn't all games. Need a awesome TV to get the most out of it.

- pro - most powerful console on the market.

ps4

- cons - getting to the tail end of its lifespan. Current games push its hardware to the limits and slowdown occurs during game play with a lot of games released in the past year or so.

- pros - best collection of games. largest player base which is a positive for multiplayer based games.

I don't think we'll have a new generation of consoles until Holidays 2019 at the earliest. X Box One X (I still can't get over how bad this name is), like the PS4 Pro, is a stop gap between the generation of consoles. I have a Pro and have experienced little to no slowdown on any 2017 marquee games.

I was talking about the standard ps4. I assumed that's what peeps meant but I was probably wrong. I still have the standard ps4 and that little boy is a all effort machine now. It gets taxed a lot.

I consider this the tail end of the standard ps4 but thats good. That's usually when the best games arrive.

It's true. Sony still has tons of exclusives coming that are bound to be great.

Considering I am still being wowed by a game from 2015, I am going to say games are doing pretty well. I love my PS4 and I doubt I will ever run out of awesome things to play for it.
