If you're waiting for a president of either party to lose majority party support, good luck. Also keep in mind that presidents always poll better than they perform in elections...presumably because a poll response is perceived by respondents as a harmless way to support "their" side, not a way to express grievances with their own party. Nearly 1/5 of Republicans disapproving of their own president after 6 months is not insignificant. 3 in 10 being embarrassed by him is...something else.

If you're looking at electability and broader party branding, this is stunningly bad. When you hear whispers of Republicans primarying Trump, or even running Pence against his own boss, these figures are why.

There's a lot to unpack here.

Even Donald is down to just 1/3 of Republicans strongly approving, and that 1/3 skews increasingly old.

But the real issue is that the GOP is increasingly two very disparate groups. 20-25% of their voters disapprove of Donald, depending on the poll, with many of those also frustrated and angry over the party's failure to address him. But another third of the party are so locked in the cult of personality you'll never pull them out of it.

Senators losing the base could be destructive to their ability to win elections, but primarying them with Donald's pets is also a recipe for failure.
