It was indeed from Shangri-La, per the Stone interview:

Andrew and Ed worked that out together. One morning, we came in and they had something going on. That was definitely a Shangri-La track. That one probably has the biggest build for me personally, in terms of hearing it at first and thinking, it’s kind of an Ed song. I wasn’t quite aware of its potency until later. Andrew encouraged me to play this little harmonic, acoustic part almost like a Cure melody. I’ve been playing along with the song to relearn it and I’m really looking forward to playing it live. It’s a really powerful lyric and I think we did a really great job of taking something and really pushing it to its limit.

Sounding vaguely ominous...I like that!
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Is this just a guess or did you read it somewhere?

So is this part of the intro which we know by now is Scared of Fear part of that clip we heard with organ that played when they were teasing an album and tour announcement? I wonder if Setting Sun has a bit of an outro like this in the way Master/Slave did with Once and Release.

I kind of feel bad for Ed the world is gonna shit on something special and because of the sentiment that's kind of annoying.

My guess is worst = Something Special and best is either Waiting for Stevie or Wreckage.

That's a trade-off I think most of us would be willing to make

p.s. Something Special will not be PJ'S worst song ever

Right? I think we would all GLADLY accept a bottom 5 song on this album if we were getting a top 5 all timer in return.

Oh there's no chance. And as much as i adore DOTC and think its the best thing they've done in 20+ years its still unlikely to even be a top 20 Pearl Jam song for me.

Hopefully one of the worst is Something Special. Although I’d have to hear the entire song. A part of me feels like it could be this bright sounding song in the vein of Down but at the same time it could be something of a clunker like a song from Lightning Bolt. I’ll try to stay positive until the full song comes along.

As for one of the best, it’s gotta be Waiting For Stevie (even if a cheesy song title). I’m still looking forward to React, Respond the most given the metal door clip with that solo.
