I dunno. I listened to Era Vulgaris today for the first time and can see myself reaching for it again. Yet that one seems pretty maligned among the fans so what do I know?

A lot of people seem to enjoy their last few records, so I wouldn't place too much stock in my opinion either. I don't even like Songs for the Deaf that much.

I'm half and half with Spenno. I love S/T and Rated R, and then I'd rank ...Like Clockwork next.

I think the self-titled debut is their best record by a huge margin and it's been downhill (to varying degrees) ever since.

Yeah, Strat. It's going to be huge. And I don't think musically it's that different. I hear Sick, Sick, Sick and Smooth Sailing/Fairweather Friends QOTSA in there.

The pendulum was always going to swing back towards upbeat and fun after the epic masterpiece that was LC.

One thing I love about QOTSA is that all of their albums have a different sound and feel to them - this one is probably going to be their 'Backspacer' (but hopefully much better).

I really think SFTD and EV stand head and shoulders above the rest. But they're all great records (except for LC, which is still good).

I do like their self-titled, without a doubt. We had it on a jukebox at an old bar I worked at. "You Can't Quit Me Baby" went on nearly every night when we'd start closing down. Got us through many a bar cleaning session.
