I was thinking that in the earliest drafts, Leia was being trained as a Jedi. But I can’t find anything to support my recollection.

Other side of the galaxy and basically just a doorway in case Lucas wanted to make more films.
But it was never meant to be Leia. That whole thing was just added almost during production.

That wasn’t in the earliest drafts either.

The ‘other’ was an element he was toying with. But That’s what’s I was saying.
It was meant to be a sister. As far away as possible. But it never got even into the page

Homeboy made shit up as he went along. Everything was changed or tweaked as needed. Very little was "planned out." Vader being Luke's father wasn't originally part of the plan. Homeboy liked to improvise on the fly and he changed his mind constantly. That's part of why the whole "DISNEY STAR WARS SUCKS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE PLAN" crowd makes me laugh.

well, then lucas non-planning turned out way better in that case.

And he only had to do it for three films. And there really wasn’t canon talk back then. Just 3 movies and toys.
