Conspiracy theory: Someone close to the band didn't like the bashing of the new material...
More realistic theory: B-sides randomly leak.
Don't know but the 10c is dropping the fist in typical fashion.
They're deleting any and all threads about it, it seems.
where? on the pit?
Yeah...I'm pretty sure at least. There were several long threads about the releases that are just not there anymore.

Yeah, I just don't think there's much to support that. I think they'd be playing about the same places now than if they'd never made those two records.

This is the PJ i know and love. Let it Ride is just awesome, Mikes playing sounds like it did on Riot Act and Eddie knows what his range is......I like MYM but these two tracks blow it out of the water.....Why does this band leave some of their best songs as b sides? wash, hard to imagine, sad, fatal, undone, down, otherside, hold on, YL...These two songs should have replaced Gone and Big Wave....Anywho im glad we got to hear them, hopefully there are more to come

There is nothing 'relevant' about S/T and Backspacer. There is plenty to laugh at about them though. Before those records, I never thought Pearl Jam and 'laughing stock' could be synonymous in my mind, but sadly, they are, and too often. What is musically 'relevant' about Backspacer? What space in the contemporary music scene is it supposed to occupy? It sounds, production-wise, like an album they thought might occupy some space in the radio-friendly world. But still, this is Pearl Jam, and I find it impossible to compare the sound of Backspacer to any other band on the planet. But for all the wrong reasons.

if these ever see the light of day on an album it will have some fixin' put on them, and will probably have the guitar solo replaced with BoB playing around in his Casio.
this is why the rest of these demos need to leak. so they can finally be safe. with us.

that sounds like the polar opposite of art.
dont artists make art with the intention of it causing a reaction?
art
is reactive, actually - it's a reaction to the world around the artist that is expressed through a compulsion to make something worthwhile FROM the reaction the artist has.
What art is most useful for, is being
provocative.
art is best when the creative expression provokes other people to experience thought/feelings that they'd never have without that creative expression.
in this way, Pearl Jam were masters in the first ten years of their career. If they'd spent the most recent ten years doing the same thing instead of making music to connect with a large fan base, they'd expand their fan base organically, to me, instead, they aren't so much provoking reaction or emotion in people, but are instead MARKETING.

I said this in another thread, but to me it's less about leaving b-sides off (they're always gonna be there, and it's fun to have some great stuff that takes some digging), but leaving them off when S/T's lineup was already comparatively weak? It's one thing to leave a great song off a great record, but another when that song can elevate a mediocre or poor record.
