You people have no idea how tempted i am to edit Shania's Wikipedia entry to include a chapter about her influence on alternative rock bands.

This would be brilliant.

:ohyeah!:
Great tune
My "old Pearl Jam self" was hesitant upon first listen, but by the time the bridge ended I was doing the Shinny Happy People dance all around the house.

That's because, as in all PJ's mediocre songs, the bridge is the good bit.

Nothing mediocre about this tune... the opening riff sets the stage... the bridge and solo takes it to the next level... one of my favs on the album

Wish they would have not given it the big pj rock treatment.

Could have been really cool if they just had ed sing over that slightly overdriven guitar...

I've realised that in order to be truly T.Rex-ish, they would need to take virtually everything out other than one guitar, a handclap, and a vocal (by Stone). Very minimal drums.

THIS song should've been a camp-horror psychobilly freakout, with horror comedy laughs here and there.

As I've said before, this song is the equivalent of a sleazy sex session with a buxom wench from the wrong side of the tracks. It's fun and dirty, but you might regret it in the cold light of day (especially if you didn't double-bag).

Thankfully, I love sleazy sex sessions with buxom wenches so I'm happy! :)

I think you just described what this song should be, rather than what it is.

The chorus aside (which I don't think I'll ever like) I think the rest of the song comes close to filth, no?

Yeah, there's nothing sleazy at all about this song.

However, listening to that Stone vignette, it really seemed like it could've been. I have a feeling this did not end up the same way Stone had envisioned it.

Yeah in reality this song is more like two suburbanites going slumming by eating at a Denny's instead of their usual Olive Garden.

Just like Sirens probably didn't end up the same way as Mike imagined it. The thing is, I love Sirens, and I don't love this one; so the fact that BoB played with both songs doesn't bother me, just that one works, and the other doesn't.

Yeah, my frustration is that I can imagine three directions they could've taken this one in, and they don't choose any of them. It's kept to fine but bland. I spent a short time positively talking-up what this song almost became, and I'd rather discuss a successful execution than a nice idea.

In that latest interview, he said he'd imagined the guitars being bigger. No surprise there, really.

Damnit, this could've been a much dirtier song. It wouldn't have been top shelf stuff, but it might've been so much more enjoyable.

Yup. There's no component of this I hate. I don't even hate the chorus, musically. But it has no conviction. You can't do Drrrty Louisiana Blues (riff / verses) at the same time as doing camp glam (chorus) unless you're being pretty clever with composition, and transitioning from one section to another. It's the kind of thing they would've done really well in Yield, where there are several strange and interesting transitions from one song section to another. But they're all unexpected and interesting.
