they are pretty different. Both of them are incredible. I think Coney Island benefits from being the first collaboration between Taylor and The National.

Folklore and now Evermore are the only two albums my wife and I have listened to together multiple times, front-to-back, in like...ever. Genuinely enjoyable music, and not in one of those "my wife likes it so I started liking it too" kind of ways.
If I'm being honest, I haven't really experienced or enjoyed full albums like I used to in a long time, so these couple of albums are special for that reason.

Did you guys see the Swifties’ theory that there will be a third record called Woodvale in the spring? A real missed opportunity to call it Furthermore, I think.

I did not see this but I like the concept. I think that could need really cool.
Why Woodvale?
EDIT: nevermind. I looked it up.

I am officially walking back my original assessment of the album Evermore. While I still don't think it's quite as good as Folklore, it certainly comes close.
Marjorie might be my favorite.

Willow starts off sounding like a Nick Drake song. I really like the vibe.

My wife's review of this album: "pretty tunes, but kind of samey and her voice is so incredibly average"

I hope not.
My review isn't too much different to be honest. I wish there was more going on instrumentally in most of these songs. Good compositions, but kind of shallow.

I agree with you and yours, monkey.
Ivy is lovely though.

it’s kind of fun that they took a recording of her deceased grandmother singing and used it as backing vocals.

A certain to be unpopular opinion: Evermore is better than Coney Island until dude starts singing it and nearly ruins the song. Her parts are gorgeous and among the high moments on either album.
Happiness and Marjorie are both great. I took the day off from the album today, I'll listen again tomorrow. It mostly makes me want to listen to folklore, though.

i think happiness is really good, but honestly could've been left off. it's the same way i feel about seven, illicit affairs, and hoax off of folklore. in fact, that album would've been perfect if it ended with peace.
