I liked Varamo quite a bit, but Shantytown was my favorite recent Aira.

Nuts--I just ordered Seamstress and Landscape Painter, was hoping those plus the millions of other books I haven't read would last me through the summer. Literary Conference has been my favorite Aira so far.

I just finished White Noise and loved it. After reading so much DFW, you can really see the influence DeLillo had on his later writing. Any other good DeLillo works people can recommend?

Has anyone read any Jess Walter? I love his shit. Every short story I've read of his has been great. I picked up one of his novels in Barnes and Noble and read a little and liked it, but other than that I've never read any longer pieces.

That's funny. I'm reading the manuscript of my major professor's current book project and she reads one of Walter's books in detail--The Zero (2006). I haven't read it, but I kinda want to now.
