because to suspend one team's best and most important player before a game 7 of a Conference Finals who happen to be going against Stern's current binky? He'd have been crucified and it would have tarnished his "legacy"...even Stern isn't THAT stupid

Maybe because he was one of only 4 guys in the NBA who averaged 20+ ppg and shot over 50% this season? He was fantastic this year up until about late March and he's been broken since. In fact I'd argue he was the single biggest reason the Heat looked so good during the regular season and that streak specifically. LeBron was obviously otherworldly, but when is he not? Wade, on the other hand FINALLY looked comfortable out there playing alongside LeBron. He was making great decisions, and generally playing better than he has in years. The guy is clearly injured, you can see that he physically cannot do the things that make him great. I wouldn't be surprised if he's more seriously injured than the Heat have let on.

But on the bright side I'm all for anything that means you have to give credit to LeBron.

Maybe what I see has more to do with what I have been noticing at the end of the last few seasons during playoff time, when it seems like the Wade is injured argument gets trotted out the most and i'm paying pretty close attention to Miami. I do somewhat recall his stellar play during the streak now that you mention it. What would you put the odds we ever see that player again? I think its a coin flip.

I think we'll see him like that again, but I'm not so sure we'll see that in the playoffs ever again. You're right that he's always banged up come playoff time. I think if he hopes to be an impact player for another 4-5 seasons he needs to get a consistent jump shot ASAP. After his surgery/rest this summer I really hope he gets into the gym and shoots and shoots and shoots. We've seen that LeBron has been willing to dedicate himself in the offseason to improve his game, but really haven't seen the same from Wade. I hope he realizes that his game needs to evolve or he's not going to be considered a great player for much longer.

There's a part of me (the optimistic part) that thinks after being so effectively contained by Pacers the Heat's 3 point shooters will feel wide open with any sort of space and have a couple really big games. I love that the Spurs aren't a great rebounding team, seeing as that's probably Miami's most explicit weakness. On the other hand, they don't turn the ball over and are one of the few teams I think passes the ball well enough to potentially carve up Miami's pressure defense.

I hope Miami comes out in attack mode like in game 7 and takes the ball to the rim over and over until they get Duncan in foul trouble. I don't care if he blocks 5 in a row, keep attacking. You challenge the bigs enough they will get whistled for fouls.

I think we are going to be able to tell a lot about how this series will go based on how the Spurs look tonight. We pretty much know what we are going to get from the Heat (Lebron). If the Spurs look rested, fresh and display the sound decision making they are known for then game on. If not, Heat in 5.

I dunno. The Spurs can drop game 1 and it's not that big a deal. This game is a much bigger deal for the Heat I think.

The Heat look pretty comfortable tonight.

I put this loss on Bosh and Spolestra....

If I'm Miami i'm pretty worried that if I can't beat a 9 days off Spurs team.....I can't beat the Spurs.
