I've only seen Barry Lyndon once, if you can believe it. There's another one I really need to see again. It seems to have really risen in the popular estimation over the last decade

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. Outside of 2001 being my personal favorite, I just have no idea how to rank his work. It's all fucking brilliant. At least the stuff I've seen.

yeah, me too. The only one i saw in the theatre when it premiered. I was what...16? I also saw The Shining a few years ago, 35mm copy. Beautiful work.
