Which one am I?

You're shorter and skinnier than me, so I guess this doesn't work.

I'm not sure what the best thread is for this, but I was listening to Mark Lanegan's recent 2002 demos release. My favorite moment on that record is an earlier incarnation of what would come Methamphetamine Blues. It's got a smooth windswept road song feel to it, completely different from the pounding industrial blues version that it would turn into. But some lyrics, some melodic passages, etc. are the same and you can see the threads that link the two songs together.

I don't know if pearl jam is the band for this, but I'd love to see them try an album where every song is in some way directly connected to the song before it. Some melody that gets transformed, some musical sequence that gets repeated, some lyrical phrasing that carries across into the next song. Think of how the bridges in Puzzles and Games and Light Years are pretty much the same though the songs themselves are totally different.

So in the Jeff/Vice interview he said they'd "probably try and get another record going in the next year."

Does this mean...

A) In the "next year," starting now, using the South American tour as a writing springboard.
B) Getting together at some point in 2016.
C) Jeff is talking out of his ass and Mike has four movie score jobs lined up before he could even consider it.
D) They release the infamous follow-up to Backspacer EP and break up.
E) Matt Cameron permanently rejoins Soundgarden, Jack Irons permanently rejoins Pearl Jam, they permanently lose Brendan O'Brien's number, and a grand rebirth ensues.

I know what my choice is.

Unfortunately, that's probably right. New album: June, 2017. Summer tour includes a return to Lollapalooza 10 years later to headline again.

That is like their standard pat response in between albums. Basically we can expect a new album every 4 years*.

I will say June 2017 and they do Wrigley again that summer. I base that on nothing whatsoever.

Mid 2016.

Hoping they have worked on some new material already.
