$100 for that US Precision is ridiculous.

I've always heard that Thunderbirds suffer from neck dive. Warwicks are said to be the same, but I haven't noticed it too much with my Corvette. Thoughts on that?

Love the SVT! Hopefully one day I can justify getting one myself.

Here is the guitar. BB King Lucille model Epiphone with a signed scratch plate. Played for less than 1 minute, won in a competition for the Deuces Wild album (1997).

Well guys, I think it’s time I picked up a guitar again. I find myself needing an outlet and I’ve always missed the multiple guitars I carelessly pawned in my 20s.

I don’t play that well, but I can strum a bit, so I think a modest acoustic with a little personality is what I need. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don’t plan on doing anything but strumming on the porch, but I would like something with staying power that produces quality sound for the price. I’m thinking anything in the sub $400 range.

Thoughts?

Yamaha, Ibanez, and Breedlove make nice guitars in the 4-500 range. Just make sure it’s got a solid top.

What do you guys like about these guitars?

I like Yamaha because they seem to focus on build quality without any of the flashyness. Takamine was also a good call because they have some quality smaller-bodied acoustics like the one you linked.

My first guitar was a Yamaha laminate. So many beach tunes played on that thing, and all sorts of stickers. It had a lot of sentimental value but I think it was probably pretty cheaply made now that I'm researching wood versus laminate and all that.

Per y'all's recommendations, I'm strongly looking into that Epiphone Hummingbird and Takamines. I think wood tops are what I'm looking for, for sure.

That Ibanez archwood looks practical and nice too. As does this one. I think I want a cutaway body.

for 20 years of my guitar playing life I would use the classic yellow tortex guitar picks. You know the ones.

One day 3 years ago i accidentally ordered the "sharp version" of this pick and when it arrived I couldnt believe what was going on. It felt like I had to learn guitar all over again.

Muscle memory is a bitch.

Fast forward to a month ago when all of those became worn down/lost and i had to play some older "regular" ones...I could barely hit the fucking strings.

I reordered the sharp ones.

I've used Fender mediums since I can remember. I'll wear them out to the point you can't tell which end is which. I drop them a bit, so I tried some of those Dunlop grip picks. They work as intended, but the edges seem sharp, and that's what I use because I was never taught how to hold one. I kinda use the pick like a machete for single note stuff. Had a lot of trouble with string breaks, in the early days. D'Addario 10s can take a beating. Highly recommend.

I've used the purple .71mm Dunlop Gator Grip picks forever.

I've tried others but nothing else feels right.
