I love those kinds of things. It gives so much more depth to something that is already amazing. I think my favorite thing about Part 8 is that I have already had hours of conversation about it with my family. I love the kind of art that can be discussed endlessly. It's a figurative fountain.

Have we talked about how the nuclear bomb goes off at 5:29 MNT? Which is Mountain time. Which means that in Twin Peaks, which is in the Pacific time zone, it's one minute before the Giant/??????'s 430 mention.

Could be more evidence that the young girl is the aforementioned Linda.

"Well now, I'm not gonna talk about Judy. In fact, we're not gonna talk about Judy at all, we're gonna keep her out of it."

That's a good find! I didn't catch that.

Watching the episode I kept waiting for ?????? To refer to the woman as Judy. But a I like the idea that the girl is Judy even better.

Was listening to some TP podcasts and one person speculated that maybe Judy is the woman in the purple room who's eyes are sown shut. The one afraid of "mother." Which is interesting.

There was also this cool... I don't know, observation? Theory? Just a connection to The Wizard of Oz that I thought was pretty cool.

So, obviously Lynch is a huge fan of The Wizard of Oz. And in the film you've got Scarecrow who needs a brain, The Tin-Man who needs a heart, The Cowardly Lion who needs courage, and Dorothy who wants to go home.

This podcaster noticed that Cooper as Dougie gets his decodes the case files: he gets his brain back. Then he looks at his "son" in the back of the car and he weeps: he gets his heart back. Then he saves his wife from Stabby Spike: he gets his courage back. Which means... now Cooper can go home. EXCEPT!... And here's the interesting part... he's still missing his shoes.

Dougie Coop has to get his shoes back before he can go home!

Dougie Coop is also getting instructions from a "man" behind the curtain.

Thanks for this. That piece of music was perfect for that scene. Minimal and mysterious with a subtle suggestion of humming electricity that is starting to feel like a major theme in this mythology.
Absolutely.

This was good too:

I finally got around to watching this just now. Excellent. I can't believe I never put together just how much Bacon influenced Lynch. I mean, duh. I'm a huge fan of both artists. When I was studying art, I wanted to be Francis Bacon. But seeing those images, revisiting those paintings now, after having watched Twin Peaks, my mind is kinda blown.

I'm re-watching S3E2.

Coop says, "When can I go?" in the Red Room.

Laura Paler whispers something in his ear that we don't get to hear. Then Coop says, "Huuuh...." And there is relief/understanding in his voice.

Then Laura screams and shakes and is ripped from the Red Room; up and away.

What did she tell Coop? Did she prepare him Dougie? Where did Laura go? Is it possible that when the Giant/?????? releases Laura into the world in a golden orb that that moment is present and not past? Maybe he's RE-releasing Laura. Maybe the Giant/????? is giving birth to Laura AGAIN in the present and that's why she's ripped away...

Evil Coop massages Jack the mechanic's face. It's eerily similar to what the Woodsman does when he crushes skulls.
