This is a good one. We should post a pic of the whole forum, all serious, with this hashtag.

I was just poking at you. I know you always go in with an open mind. I hope you can take something away from it that you enjoy. But I'll look forward to your review regardless when you do finally see it.

This was fine, then okay, then just meh.

The last tail of the movie is terrible. It becomes just a special FX bonanza. No real feeling. No human drama. I didnt give 2 shits about NYC, and i dont think NYC gave 2 shits about ghosts or the ghostbusters. Did they even exist by the end of the movie?

So many jokes that were unnecessary, so many fell flat. It seemed they didnt know how to write a story so they just inserted comedic one liners the entire time.

Also, way too many modern cultural references. Chuck Klosterman talks about it in his new book how a piece of art can literally fall on its face, or be completely irrelevant in a few years when too many current cultural references are written into the story in order to feel super relevant, meta, or whatever. Did they really make an Oprah car joke? Selfie stick photo?

Also, why did Kristen Wig let the ghost out just to prove it to Dr. Venkman? Was that just to kill off Bill Murray? Very dumb.

The entire concert seen was eye rolling.

McKinnon was the best.

Joey, Im really sorry. I do think you are vastly overstating the importance of this film for women, much like LV vastly overstated the cultural importance of Batman V Superman. They are wonderful comics and hilarious women and talented actors, albeit one trick ponies, but I didnt get the sense that these women were changing the role of women in modern cinema. Also, they did just hire the secretary because he was hot and they were drooling over him.

The first half of the movie gave me hope but then it just fell apart. I didnt give two craps about them, the city, the ghosts or the main villain.

Weak.

that being said: It was a nice way to spend an afternoon with my lady and it wsa at a theater that served drinks. I laughed a few times.

Also, Joseph, i love you.
