I'd make a joke about average intelligence of his followers being 5th grade level but that's hanging fruit.

I think that is what got him elected. Everyone just assumed that anyone voting for Trump was an idiot and there weren't that many of them. So either A) you all think that almost half of the voting population has the intelligence of a 5th grader or B) The Left and liberal media played the impact of Donald Trump on an unsettled older white man voting constituent as not that big of a deal, resulting in the Left looking like the dumbasses.

I did not vote for Trump, am not a supporter, and hate him, but calling almost half of the voting population dumbasses for voting him in isn't going to get liberals anywhere. Liberals are just as much if not more at fault for this, in the opinion of this rube.

I will say, the fact that Trump's tax plan would save me over $10k next year but I'm still not voting for him is a first for me. I've never voted solely principle over wallet before.
w00t! Hilldawg saves me $300. My principles and my wallet align.
Well, now with Tom Price over DHHS, birth control's gonna cost my family an extra $600, so my Trump deficit just increased to $900.

I mean, if they voted for a man despite all the awful things about him because they were being called idiots by the supporters of the other candidate, they're proving themselves to be idiots.

Saying Trump supporters idiots may not win Democrats the Presidency, but that doesn't mean they aren't idiots.

Then I guess I'm really confused at how this all went down that the mass public was basically told that Hilary has it in the bag and Trump has no chance? There has to be some sort of responsibility taken from the liberals for going into what appeared to be cruise control, right?

I 100% agree with you to a point; I was telling a joke, the media/Liberals were all completely serious.

There does, and I don't think they have any idea what that means right now. There's a lot of hurt feelings and it's not a good look. They (the actual boots-on-the-ground people) need to get their asses in gear for 2018.

I guess all I'm saying is that to everyone that is bitching about Trump being elected, if you are blaming this entirely on almost half of the population being idiots, then you've learned nothing and it could very well happen again. If your campaign lost to Donald fucking Trump then clearly you did some majorly wrong and fucked up things and need to take responsibility for it.

Also, at the political action group meeting I was at earlier this week, a lifelong democrat stood up and admitted that during the primaries, he voted on the republican side and voted for Trump because "there is no way Trump could beat Hilary or Bernie". How'd that work out for you? Dumbass.

I personally don't think all Trump supporters are idiots by any means, but I think what B said before is kind of important and easily gets lost...
Saying Trump supporters idiots may not win Democrats the Presidency, but that doesn't mean they aren't idiots.
My point is there are some things about this election that are true regardless of whether or not acknowledging them hurts the Democrats. Trump ran a campaign that in large part luxuriated in bigotry, vileness, cruelty and general ugliness. And about half of the voters this year cast their ballot for it. Now, maybe acknowledging that hurts Democrats, maybe it helps them, but it doesn't make it any less true.

I wish they could do a poll of everyone that voted for Trump and ask them if they were more likely, if forced to, vote for Clinton or a 3rd term Obama. Because I'm pretty sure that even in 2016, all these old white people that voted for him would rather have a black man in the White House than a woman. That seems to be the feeling of the conservative people I've overheard in recent weeks. They just didn't want a woman in the White House. Mind you, I'm in South Carolina so it could just be that I live in a pretty sexist, racist state.
