That is quite an endeavor. I'm sure I've heard all his albums over time but never gave Neil's catalog the straight-through treatment.
I attempted the same with Metallica last week. I often state that I really do not care for them, usually in the same breath as AC/DC, but it had truly been a while since I listened to any album proper; I got through to Nothing Else Matters and just said fuck it, I'm done. To each their own I suppose.
I nearly did the same after Human Touch.
Did you try giving Tracks a spin at all?
Too intimidated by 4 CDs worth of b-sides and rarities. I have heard parts of it over the years but never sat for the whole thing.

Makes perfect sense to me.
I suspect the genius of AC/DC is only truly appreciated with age and experience.

Age, as in, senility?

It is indeed a lot for a full, dedicated listen but I bet you'll find some tracks worth the time... 18 Tracks includes a good cut but left off a ton along with adding The Promise.
Hmm... before I get to to that trove of bootlegs I may have to put together a Springsteen B-Side album.

Yeah, I don’t think that’s fair or accurate. Critics do tend to go a little easy on Bruce (RS did give Working on a Dream 5 stars), but he has also had some excellent albums in the second half of his career.
Conversely, modern critics attempted to make their bread on panning Pearl Jam releases, particularly those that fashion themselves indie stalwarts. And even then, while their last two don’t quite reach the heights of their earlier output, I’d still take Lightning Bolt or Backspacer over many other releases from other bands.
Clearly, to be a bona fide indie, you need to whine about the success of others and look down on someone.

he made another post on the message board revealing that he is the son of lobbyist Richard Berman.[1] The two have been estranged since about 2006, when David demanded that his father halt his work supporting guns, alcohol, union-busting and other industries of the like, or else he would sever their relationship. Richard refused, and the two have not spoken since. In the message board entry, he called his father "evil," a "human molestor," an "exploiter," a "scoundrel," and "a world historical motherfucking son of a bitch."[1] Berman ended his post by saying, "I am the son of a demon come to make good the damage."[
This guy has a flair for the dramatic. That's fine, he also "retired" from music a few years ago only to come back this year. Some people retire until the inspiration hits them again or, more likely, they need a cash infusion so an album is recorded followed by the far more important tour.
...and he also shits on Willie Nelson. I mean, sure, his music has not been relevant for a LONG time, but to go so far as to say these artists need to be less happy and give a fuck about what critics think. Willie doesn't give the first flying fuck about what critics think! Nothing wrong with being a happy, accomplished musician whose past output has provided a great life without financial worry, and Willie has done just that...

Though he is clearly an indie douche, he's not wrong about Pearl Jam.
Certainly, mainstream music consumers and critics seem to think that their last 3 (shitty) albums are a "return to form".
Enablers? Yes.

PJ were never media darlings. Nirvana were...But Rolling Stone gave awful reviews to pretty much every album they did after Vs.
LB had also very mid tier reviews.

usually i feel a bit older around Other Bands but the Def Leppard and Van Halen thread make me feel younger again as i pretty much don't recognize any of the songs that are being posted in them. And from what i did listen to, i'm OK with that.
