Holy fuck, Alex Jones's rant about Hillary and Obama being literal, biblical demons is the funniest thing I've ever heard a conservative say.

Let's stop for a second. This is the Republican presidential nominee. Attacking his own party. Promising to teach his party leaders a lesson. Pledging to take the “shackles off.”

I've spent the better part of the past two decades covering politics — day in and day out. And, I can say without hesitation I have NEVER seen anything close to this. And I expect I never will again.

The very foul mouthed Sen. John McCain begged for my support during his primary (I gave, he won), then dropped me over locker room remarks!
Shit. Is he going to be doing this all the time now? How long til KellyAnne quits?

When did cursing in news articles become commonplace? It's so jarring reading an article and running into the words when a nominal adjective instead of invective would suffice.

I state it that way to emphasize that it is remarkable. Unprecedented. Historical.

Certainly not bad.

I don't think a one party democracy is anything to feel great about, even in the short term.

And both parties tend to overreach after big wins, often to their own detriment a few years later.

Here's a good article by Chait on why it's not easy for the likes of him or Ryan to untangle from Trump support.

In order to fully abandon Trump, they have to fully abandon his not insignificantly sized group of supporters. Which, if they do that, they need to postpone until after the elections.

So they're trying to do the dance, and instead of having their cake and eating it too, they are just getting the worst of both deals. The number of Republican voters currently accusing their own party leaders of leaking the tape...with the purpose of sinking their own presidential candidate...is staggering.
