My Vile deep dive took me to this one recently while mowing the lawn. I liked it best out of what TWOD I've heard over the years. Feels a lot more warm and organic where a lot of the more recent stuff gives me a vaguely clinical vibe.

i was playing it last night, and my wife asked who it was and what album. when i told her, she said, "yeah, see, i like the weirder stuff with KV."

I listened to this recently. It's usually toward the bottom of my Do Make rankings, but there's some really good stuff on here, nonetheless. "A With Living," "Herstory of Glory," "Bound to Be That Way," "The Universe!"... It unsurprisingly has a bit of similarity with what Broken Social Scene was doing at the time.
Definitely.

Their entire catalogue has been aging really well for me.

WV White - House of Spiritual Athletes

i'd completely forgotten about these guys until i opened youtube music this morning to listen to a few of the RMer recommended Neil Young albums. House of Spiritual Athletes was saved to my library. i did some googling because i had it in my head that the lead singer for this band is the son of a former major league catcher, but i was wrong. i was confusing this band with White Denim.

anyway, i love this album, and think it might be in some of y'all's wheelhouse. i'm looking at washing machine, maybe chewm too.

i'm almost positive i learned of them through this NPR article.
Singer-guitarist Tyler Travis worked with his father, Mike (formerly a member of '90s Ohio indie-rock groups like Gunshy Ministers and Bush League All-Stars), who produced, engineered and mixed his son's band in his living room. "My dad had a huge CD collection and was constantly playing music at the house non-stop," says Tyler, who also recalls a childhood where "musical instruments [were] strung around on sofas and counters at all times," within the budding musician's reach. "My father turned me on to my favorite bands of all time: Sparklehorse, The Replacements, Mercury Rev, Galaxie 500, Built To Spill. I really owe a lot to him."
i feel like i bought the digital of this, but it's probably on a hard drive somewhere...

great song.

took my dog on an early evening walk, and listened to Masterpiece and Capacity, and a bit of U.F.O.F.

Big Thief knows how to record a nice drum sound.

Kicking myself for not bringing my earbuds with me to work. I'd listen with that in mind tonight if I had them. I'm just really getting around to exploring Big Thief's catalog. The latest one kind of spoiling me for their other albums. I've been spending a lot of time with it at the expense of the others.

by all means, stay with it you're enjoying. Masterpiece - U.F.O.F. is worth the time. i'd also throw in a nod for Live at the Bunker Studio. The version of "Not" from that...wooo boy. :nice:
