Also my wife likes them and she's super excited.
My wife and I literally cried together when we saw the Insta photo of the Dixie Chicks in studio. I'm more excited for a new Dixie Chicks record than an new Pearl Jam record. And I mean that unironically.
at this point I am too. I finally listened to that PJ protest song and wow. I like a lot of their stuff that you guys don't (hence why I rarely comment in the PJ threads when it comes to the albums) but this was just not good. I mean, the whole band sounds bored behind Eddie and the production makes Matt sound like he's trying to mimic St. Anger.

We saw them twice in 2016, once here and the second time in Calgary because why the heck not.
Are you talking about Can't Deny Me? I actually dig that song. Not that that fact will help me much in this thread. But still.
I can appreciate that, seeing as I like both Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.

Me too. LB especially. I think it's a pretty solid record. Can't Deny Me isn't as good as Ole but it's still a fine song. Nothing I'd use to introduce a novice to the band, though.

But to be honest, bune, you'd do well to distance yourself from me in musical opinions.

She also did a version of "Golden State" with Eddie but the OG version was better, though on the other hand her cover of "Without You" is better than his version.

What if I told you Pete was gender fluid and singing as a female on that track?

That Golden State cover is baller.

Also, I finally found a reason, I don't need an excuse.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the passing of David Berman.... it’s that every music site I visit or station I listen to is run by 40-50 year old white dudes.

Flood was a pretty good producer.

Also, this seems like big news:

I’m hitting the road for a five hour round trip today. Just me and the radio. Can’t remember the last time this happened. All of my CDs are still in boxes after moving, so I opened the first box I found and narrowed my selections to the following:

Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs
The Minus 5 - Down with Wilco
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Bonnie “Prince” Billie - Ease Down the Road
Todd Snider - Songs from the Daily Planet
The Dead Weather - Horehound

Not quite a desert island disc list, but making these decisions within a limited field and on short notice was fun.
