By all accounts lucas has absolutely no idea how to get actors to perform. There are decent actors in the film and i imagine any of those directors would have made a better impact.

That's absolutely a fair point.

You also wonder how much of the CGI saturation there would have been. Would another director have had the ability or the vision or the power/desire to circumvent Lucas?
