This may have already been discussed, but whatever. Here's my problem with the album art. It feels like an extension of Backspacer. I know it is completely different (and better, imo) art than the Tom Tomorrow stuff, but I guess I prefer the grainy photos, rough sketches, that type of thing on album art. This is another "clean" looking production, just like Backspacer. Maybe I'm not explaining it well enough, but it's just a vibe I guess.

I thought that (it needs more grunge). It would look cool if the painted it on a wall and then took pictures or something. I guess it comes from hiring an artist as opposed to doing it themselves and that its just quicker and easier to do it with vectors rather than hand do it.

Are the doodles and drawing in binaural and vitalogy ed or jeff? the sharks and pineapples and shit.

I think it's Backspacer's dark side. I like the artwork. It's dark and interesting enough for me. But yeah, it's also clean and poppy as well. I don't think we'll get a return to the grungy polaroids and sketches unfortunately. I'm OK with an extension of Backspacer, as long as I'm happy with what they did. Longer songs implies more depth, etc. etc. Hopefully.

Just have to center the Lightning Bolt main image and make it a bit smaller and then 5 more will fit nicely around the rest of the perimeter..and that to me looks like it would make an awesome album cover actually!

Yeah this and also it seems to be accomplishing the 'different parts making up a greater whole' that eluded the Backspacer artwork.

But I know what Ruddo means - it's going to be hard to ever top the DIY/found-object majesty of Vitalogy and No Code.

Maybe it is the album cover, or something like it. Maybe all of this will be incorporated. I mean, if they were planning the track reveal they couldn't have given us the rest early.

It's the logical extension of Backspacer. The Backspacer cover was 3 rows of 3 pictures. Lightning Bolt will be 3 rows of 4 pictures.
