The two most likely outcomes here are still that Elon Musk doesn't end up owning twitter, or that he does buy it and his free speech love affair runs face first into his need to get along with the People's Republic of China.

If true, it would mean that either he didn’t think about these things, or he did and made a calculated decision, right?

amazing the guy who is so freedom of speech is also the guy who

*prevented someone from buying a tesla because they gave a poor review of a launch event
* blocks a teen on twitter for refusing his $5000 offer to stop posting his gulfstreams whereabouts when the kid then asked for $50K
* has blocked several people on twitter

Blocking people is not against free speech.

he wants people to be able to say whatever they want with no consequences (trump, white nationalists etc...)

mind you twitter has nothing to do with your 1st amendment rights only that the government cannot censor you

im actually ok with him doing those things but you can scream about letting everyones voice be heard then be so thin skinned to do those things

"he wants people to be able to say whatever they want with no consequences"

I hope so. That would be awesome, though there are several coercive forces that would prevent that.

"mind you twitter has nothing to do with your 1st amendment rights only that the government cannot censor you"

People confuse the first amendment with the broader value of free speech all the time. The 1st amendment only specifies that the government can't censor you. But that isn't the only source of censorship, and all censors are enemies.

"I'm actually ok with him doing those things but you can scream about letting everyones voice be heard then be so thin skinned to do those things"

Again, choosing not to hear people ramble on about stupid bullshit was always allowed and does not go against the concept of free speech. It has nothing to do with how thin you skin is.

Yes I know, you want powerful faceless entities to decide for you what you're allowed to hear. You think this makes you safer. It's a lost cause to convince you otherwise. But the "good guys" won't be the ones with their finger on the censor button.

what the hell do you mean makes me feel safer? i do not feel like i am in danger when i use twitter. but to allow people saying trust me im a dr, if you take mayonaise and chlorox and mix it with battery acid to prevent the common cold. those are the people id rather not be on there. i also prefer white nationalist (or really any type of org that promotes violence towards people based on their race/religion/sexual gender not to be able to reach the masses.

twitter isnt a right. its a company that allows users to use their services if they can follow the rules. if you cant follow the rules then you cant play

it is no different than no shirts, no shoes, no service

It doesn't really matter what kind of people you want to be able to speak in the world. The value of free speech means that people like you and other censors don't get a say in what qualifies as acceptable speech or who is allowed to speak about whatever dumb shit they want. If you don't believe in that, you aren't for free speech. You are pro-censorship. I just wish more lefties would admit this to themselves.

If you think fake doctors on the internet telling people to drink mayonnaise and battery acid is a bigger threat than bullshit "trust and safety" or "disinformation" councils funded the most powerful people on earth who have the power to decide for you what you allowed to hear or read, you are doomed. You're not gonna make it.

jesus you are thick as pig shit

no one is being censored. they can say whatever the hell they want. but a company like FB or Twitter or what ever social media site is under no ethical or legal obligation to give these people a platform

Lol again: yes they are being censored, because censorship isn't limited to government censorship.

And you can save your libertarian arguments about corporations being able to do whatever they want for libertarians who don't accept that these giant corporations are quite literally part of the state apparatus. I don't care much about the rights of corporations to censor. I don't care about the legality of their censorship. Censorship sucks and should be ripped out and burned wherever is found.

You don't even know what you're arguing.
