Speaking of learning, didn't you go to FSU way back? Just found out my beloved UF's gator bait chant has been racist this whole time.Mickey wrote:Actually learning is racism

I wonder what FSU's mascot will be this time next month. And if that coach that lies about talking to black players about racism will still be there.Mickey wrote:I sure did, but let's not get started on Florida universities and racism...4/5 wrote:Speaking of learning, didn't you go to FSU way back? Yeah, they tend to hide behind the excuse that the Seminole Nation (or some sort of council, I can't remember and it doesn't really matter) has endorsed their use of the mascot, but of course they make *money* off of that agreement so I can't imagine it counts for much with the broader indigenous population and will be targeted soon. Which, having been at Mississippi right after they changed their mascot, will be a whole to-do that will bring out the worst kind of alumni, to say nothing of current students.4/5 wrote:I wonder what FSU's mascot will be this time next month. Mickey wrote:As an aside I actually had no idea "gator bait" had a racist connotation, but it's almost as if the practice of racism is deeply interwoven into this country's history. If only there were a thread to discuss that...

The coach, yikes, but football has been a mess there for almost a decade, starting with the Jameis rape case.
