Then they should be worth betting on. Worst case scenario is giving $100 to charity.*

*me
I've already given more than that to nebraska this week
I’m surprised the Cooper nuclear plant got off so light this time. I seem to recall the 2011 flood putting it at risk.

Why would we donate the winnings to charity? What do you think we are, rich celebs?

I'm not going to be bold enough to make a prediction on the final results, but on March 20, 2019 I will say it's advantage: Trump.

If Biden does end up being the nominee, at least The Onion's Biden articles will return:

Would the Democrats really be stupid enough to run a 76 year old, white, male, inside the beltway candidate?

Joe Biden is the "safe bet" in most Democrats' eyes. Take Hillary Clinton out of the 2016 race and have VP Joe Biden running and I'm sure he would have won handily. Obama's approval numbers were near 60%, giving him that "incumbent" boost, plus he would have done a better job connecting with working-class voters who turned to Trump. I would have happily voted for him.

Four years later, I'm not so sure. But make no mistake, this is still an old white-man's game. The tides are turning but they haven't turned that far, that fast, no matter what your Twitter feed tells you. So I think he's still a viable general election candidate against Trump. His presence as elder statesman will definitely make the primaries more interesting. And don't discount that after Trump, people are going to want a "grown-up" in the oval office, not another unknown quantity or risky bet.

Of course they would. But they also wouldn't view it as stupid.

The popularity of both Bernie Sanders and Trump suggest that age really isn't that important when it comes to voting. Trump will be 74 on election day, Biden will be 77 (78 when sworn in, if he wins). Bernie will be 79 on election day.

My skepticism surrounding Biden is centered around the fact that he's run for president twice already and both efforts were pathetic. Maybe this time will be different, but it would not surprise me if he crashes and burns early again.

Age doesn't bother me for him (nor for Sanders or even Warren in that regard) as long as the VP is someone young to indemnify against death or diminished mental acuity.
