Because Ello continues to impugn me and put words in my mouth, I shall re-post the original question:

If you do someday take a salaried job like that, do you think it would be possible to go back to freelancing later on? Would people in your industry read that as a step down and judge you negatively for it?

I have enough money to abandon my family to retire and go live as a mysterious anti-social neighbor in some small town. Get one of those 'don't step on snek' flags and be weirdly involved in local politics. Should I do it?
