Fernard is my wife's hall pass (well, one of), has been for years. Dempsey just sounds so very good whenever he sings, whatever he sings. I'd be all over those covers, I suspect they will ensure everyone has a fun night.

Fanning's voice is probably more iconic but I prefer Dempsey's vocals.

I agree on both counts.

Midweek single drops from The Hard Quartet, Chat Pile, Christian Lee Hutson, Leon Bridges and Fontaines DC.
I'm also enjoying Ty Segall's and Kurt Vile's songs on the Yo Gabba Gabba soundtrack.

Do you think Chat Pile are trying to jump on the "Raygun" olympics breaking bandwagon with this timing??
"Chat Pile is an American rock band from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The band is composed of four members using the pseudonyms Raygun Busch (vocals), Luther Manhole (guitar), Stin (bass), and Cap'n Ron (drums)."
I'm all about conspiracy theories...

Hah - I don't think anyone wants to be associated with that.

Zeal & Ardor album is great obviously, more melodic, eclectic and even grungey while still being experimental; bits reminded me of QOTSA, Soundgarden, AIC

Fontaines DC sound like they took Brit Pop and Baggy, and kicked them along a Dublin road like a Coke can until they were bent out of shape, dirty, and the logo had worn off
what a great new album!

The music better be good. Because that album cover is dog shit. It might... MIGHT be worse than Pearl Jam's ST cover.

listened to that Fontaines album twice last night, and enjoyed it. I’d say ms h’s description is pretty spot on, though I will admit I don’t know what baggy is.
I really liked Motorcycle Boy - feels like it could be a Smashing Pumpkins song.
Favourite is also great - scratches the jangly guitar itch.

Seems like there's a reasonable chance that there'll be another record from The Smile this year.

It's kind of a stark contrast with the music / tone of the record, which appeals to me.
