I don't know, when I met Jeff at Global Citizens back in 2015, he was pretty much a dick.
How did you come to meet him?

it was weird, I was working as a volunteer part of the crew working backstage at the park. Stone was polite, Eddie wasn't around, Matt, Boom and Mike were really awesome and talked for like 25 minutes about the mad season sonic vinyl at the time. My co-worker approach Jeff and he just walked away.

It does seem plausible. He did appear on Earthling and has played live with Ed.

Welcome, Abe!

Wouldn’t they have announced in the newsletter they released today if this is true?

Imagine being stuck in a van/on a plane/at soundcheck/in a hotel with him for weeks on end.
I couldn't make it through 5 mins of him talking in that video.
He’s definitely not someone I could to be around for very long. Although, outside of Matt and maybe Stone, I don’t know that hanging out for any length of time with any of them would be a treat. Mike, too, maybe.
They’re all a bunch of libtards, so, yeah - never meet your heroes.

The Sausage King of Chicago? Seems plausible given Ed's connection to the city.
