I think there are some parts of the record that feel distant, but that's not all there is. It's a record that covers a lot of emotional ground. There's probably no part of PJ's catalog that feels more uncomfortably close than the last line of Rival, for example.

Plus I'd say any negatives with the production or whatever are vastly outweighed by the sheer awesomeness if the songs. For me anyway.

It's pretty much a given at this point, but knowing he's also deaf now makes me understand his weird taste more.

God's Dice is SO good. Ament owns Breakerfall and God's Dice.

I think Light Years might be my favorite Pearl Jam song.

Light Years was the only song I liked on Binaural on first listen, and then plenty of listens after that.

I love the claustrophobic feel of the record. Binaural is a personal listen experience.

I'm giving that alternate tracklisting a listen today, and it's amazing how I'm still picking up new stuff on this record.

The guitars on the pre-choruses of Insignificance sound borderline frightening.

I think Mike is at his best on records like this one and Vitalogy, when he's forced to play against his natural inclinations.
