Annie Clark is my favorite thing about music these days. If she wants a WWE title belt, welp, then GIVE HER A WWE TITLE BELT.

She'll have to take it from my cold, dead hands, brother!

I'd watch that fight.

But only with the caveat that there be a subsequent guitar challenge.

Joey, in case you haven't heard it, The National and St. Vincent covering a great Eric Bachmann song

Thanks, Jorge. I'd never heard that. I really dig it. Annie sounds weird in it, though. And I really don't care much The National, especially their lead vocals, but I like dude's phrasing a LOT in this song. Very nice. :nice:

I decided to finally listen to this album in full today to see if I was missing anything. After the first couple of songs I was ready to concede to Joey that this was better than I expected it to be. But after that, it was just kind of "there." There were certainly some moments as it went on where I could nod along and think "that's neat," but the rest felt mostly featureless. Granted, this was a first listen, so there were a number of songs I'd not yet heard, and I didn't expect them to really stand out because of their unfamiliarity, but even the songs I had heard were a wash.

I guess I'll just stick with saying I don't really get it at this point. Perhaps I'll revisit it again later.

It wasn't an instant like for me either. My first spin was very similar to what you're describing, Brett. With the exception that I think Bring Me Your Loves is a knockout and Severed Crossed Fingers destroyed me on first listen. And I automatically thought it was better than expected because I set a low bar.

It took several listens to fully appreciate the thing, and honestly, it took diving into her catalog more, too. Listening to a couple of songs from each record, in chronological order, then the entire S/T record all in one sitting brought that thing to live for me.

Im still listening to Strange Mercy and ST. Theres still room for those two; and i dont want to be overwhelmed with a lot of material.

By the way; the Marc Maron interview is nice.

I don't have many concert posters. But I'd really love to have this one.

Bring me your loves is annoying as hell and almost made me want to stop listening.

It's good I got over that, because Severed Crossed Fingers is lovely.

Bring Me Your Loves is my absolute favorite song of this decade so far.

You know that song's not actually about you, right?
