A live version of You Are was on Sirius the other night. It sounded great.

You Are rules. Best song on Riot Act and its my favorite track on the Live From the Garden DVD.epilogue wrote:Because it's a great song!bada wrote:A live version of You Are was on Sirius the other night. It sounded great.
Oh man, I haven't watched the Garden DVD in ages. But yeah I do remember You Are being a stand out. Thanks for the reminder.PHATJ wrote:You Are rules. Agreed, though I was there so I am a bit biased. The encores in that show, as an experience, were like an out of body experience. I can recall just looking around the room during Do the Evolution and it legit looked like the place was beckoning the end of the world. You don’t get to see that on the dvd because the camera is either in tight, or all you can see is those two crowd participants at varying levels of somewhat excited.Ms Harmless wrote:Live from The Garden is so great

I'm totally gonna listen to Riot Act on the way home from work tonight.
It was. An all time experience for me. I was on the floor for night one, too.Ms Harmless wrote:sounds amazingliebzz wrote:Agreed, though I was there so I am a bit biased. there are ways that I think Matt brings it down from its potential too, e.g. I don't understand why he keeps the hi-hat closed throughout? I've got used to it but it's one of those weird little decisions he makes that I wouldn'tstip wrote:It was. An all time experience for me. While a few Riot Act songs have actually gone up a few notches in my recent listens (All or None, maybe Green Disease) or I got a nice fresh reminder of how much I like my favorites (Can't Keep, Save You, Ghost, Cropduster, I am Mine, Get Right), You Are actually went down a bit for me. The music is pretty cool, but I find Eddie's performance pretty unengaging.
I saw them live for the first time a couple of shows beforehand, so this tour and DVD have always resonated very personally with me.Ms Harmless wrote:Live from The Garden is so great
context if it's needed (sorry if not!): the hi-hat is usually the cymbal (or set of two, with a pedal) that taps the pulse (in this case 1 2 3 4) along with the bass drum and snare drum in the rhythmstip wrote:for a non drummer, what does opening up a high hat do?
For the main set, maybe, but the encores at Live at the Garden are exceptional.Kalevi wrote:I like Showbox better than live at the garden
