I think "Wearing and Tearing" is one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs. Coda gets too much hate.

My only experience with Santigold is her Beastie Boys collab, which she kills. But there are also three other voices in the song.

Oh yeah, that's the worst part: she's obviously got some real talent. I love her voice, and I love pretty much all the melodies on the album. But she doesn't do anything with them - she just repeats them. Over. And over. They barely even count as songs.

When people ask me my favorite Led Zeppelin song, I always default to Since I've Been Loving You. But then I hear When the Levee Breaks and I think, I'm such an idiot! Clearly that's their best song. But then I hear Achilles or What is and What Should Never Be or Immigrant Song and the whole thing starts over again.

I just realized my copy of Zeppelin I (from my father's old collection) is the UK first pressing from 1969.

Still sounds amazing.

I love the way the new remasters sound, but the original platter is always gonna be my preferred listening method for this album.

The Bad Seeds create some really wonderful sounds on Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus.

The references to "Stone Free" in that song and the Hendrix references in general in his music and lyrics are fucking annoying and played out, especially since Hendrix was an awful lyricist in the first place...the epitome of lame hippy-dippy mysticism. Add to that his pronunciation..."I've got to get aweeeeeeeee"...and the constant "YEAH!" interjections and it's enough to drive me batshit insane. At least Prince wears his influences with class. Kravitz drives them into the ground.
