Not sure if anyone else notices the conundrum for the next round...

Also, I'm tied with Verb, 5-5 at this point...

I'll post my power rankings within the hour and be done with it...

Thanks for organizing and keeping track of things, people (PryTo, D,T, etc.)... It was a fun, yet somewhat controversial draft, and through the process, I discovered a few hidden gems that I never really gave a chance (If You Must; Hung Him On A Cross, Marigold, etc.)...

BRLB had the idea to hold a Pumpkins tourney next... I think that's a great idea and would love to participate... :peace:

Maybe the person who got the most total votes gets a bye? Also I'm in for the Pumpkins one.

I'd prefer a threesome final.

Ok, so...

over the weekend, I spun all of the picks, beginning with the proper albums, then cherry-picking the rest on youtube/spotify... It's your basic 5-star system. If a draftee chose a live/demo version over the studio cut, it needed to be extraordinary... something that really jumped out and made it unique, in order for it to get a good ranking. This is a personal decision, based on the fact that I consider nearly all of Nirvana's studio cuts the definitive versions of those songs. Here are my final results:

One starring the scentless apprentice rehersal is insane? You can hear, right?

yeah, it's not one of my favorite songs to begin with, and it's nothing more than a long-ass, drawn out, crappy rehearsal tape... Dave's teaching his bandmates how to play it, I think, and they jam the same riff over... and over... and over... and over... for like 10 minutes or some shit!

definitely a cash grab release, as was much of WTLO... I only one-starred the few picks that I never want to hear again, and that's how I felt when listening to the scentless apprentice rehersal...

thanks for checking out my power rankings, though

The power rankings summarized in a sentence: I Hate Myself and Want to Die = one star; Smells Like Teen Spirit = five stars.

the title is... interesting, but other than that the song sucks...

I thought rm would give me shit for all the 4* and 5* songs on Bleach, but to deny the greatness of Teen Spirit... you're either an idiot or full of shock value...

Oh man that Seasons in the Sun is so awesome. And it was such an important song in Kurt's life/artistic development. That fucking thing was a steal in the 7th round. :heartbeat:

Bambi Slaughter is pretty lame. But I really didn't want to get involved with all the retcon rules. So, while I have no problem with everyone else taking full advantage of the WC round, nor do I hold it against any team, I really didn't want to do it. Maybe I should have. I probably would've gone with Dumb (Unplugged) if I had.

Not sure that would have been enough to beat Spenno, either way.

And SLTS is a fucking great song. But IHMaIWtD is no slouch either. It's certainly better than a single star.

I have a friend who recorded and produced a stellar version of Seasons In The Sun, so I naturally compared the two... plus I don't know the background of why it was so important to Kurt, so it got no sentimentality points from me...

I purchased the B&BH soundtrack back in the day mainly for the Nirvana track... the title intrigued (and shocked) me, but the song was a very painful listen... I remember the extreme disappointment, so maybe I'm holding onto that memory a bit, IDK.

I was surprised more advantage wasn't taken in the WC round... pleasantly surprised.

And I'm still really mad at BigRed for taking White Lace and Strange in the final round. I thought for sure that lady was mine.

I thought everyone was gonna pat me on the back for getting Talk To Me in the 7th round. I always thought it was their great lost song. I almost took it in round 3 thinking no way it would last.

Dude! No, it's amazing. I didn't post much about it at the time because I had company and I was checking in on my phone a lot and I don't like posting from my phone, really.

I wanted that song. I was going to take it, but you snagged it so I had to go with Season in the Sun (which I was saving for my final pick). The last three on my list were Talk to Me, Seasons & White Lace and Strange.

Fucking baller pick, bada. I swore out loud when I saw that you grabbed it.
